Grameenphone goes green…not!!!!

Grameenphone, the leading mobile phone operator of the country, recently started their new corporate office in Bashundhara residential area.

Before constructing the building they have cut a large number of trees in front of the site, which were really beautiful and very much important for the environment.

Cutting those trees was really unnecessary.

As a resident of Bashundhara I have been watching this for long with a hope that they will re-plant some… Alas! They covered the roots of all tree with solid concrete baring the footpath.

Grameenphone is one the major social responsible company, as I believed but this activity really surprised me. How could they do this?

Regularly they send some Short Message Service (SMS) about different social awareness. In fact they campaign for trees also. I just wonder they really believe in corporate social responsibility (CSR) or it’s just their promotional activities.

I just want to draw attention to top management of Grameen phone that whatever you say, you’ll ultimately have to perform accordingly. You’re crying out loud for green environment but you are spoiling the green by yourself, which is really contradictory and unethical.

 Please stop cutting trees…
